For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • penne pasta (250g)
  • fresh basil leaves (50g)
  • garlic cloves (2)
  • parmesan cheese (50g)
  • pistachios (50g)
  • olive oil (50ml)
  • salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (to taste)

To bring this dish to life, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • food processor
  • large pot
  • frying pan
  • colander

Start by cooking the penne pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted water. While the pasta is cooking, prepare the pesto. In a food processor, combine the fresh basil leaves, garlic cloves, parmesan cheese, pistachios, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Once the pasta is cooked al dente, drain it using a colander and return it to the pot. Pour the pesto over the pasta and toss to coat evenly. Allow the flavors to meld together over low heat while you prepare the pistachio crumble.

In a frying pan, toast the pistachios over medium heat until fragrant and lightly browned. Remove from heat and let them cool slightly before chopping them into a coarse crumble. Sprinkle the pistachio crumble over the pesto pasta just before serving.
