Today’s Unique Recipe: Mushroom & Potato Crumble

As the weather starts to cool down, I find myself craving hearty and warm dishes that are bursting with flavor. Today, I am excited to share with you a unique and delicious recipe for Mushroom & Potato Crumble. This dish is the perfect combination of comforting potatoes, earthy mushrooms, and a crispy crumble topping that will leave you feeling satisfied and cozy.

Ingredients:

  • 400g potatoes
  • 300g mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 50g butter
  • 50g flour
  • 400ml milk
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • knife
  • cutting board
  • saucepan
  • ovenproof dish

To start, preheat your oven to 180°C. Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes, then boil them until they are tender. In a separate pan, sauté the sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, and minced garlic until they are golden and fragrant.

Next, in a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk until you have a smooth sauce. Season with nutmeg and salt. Combine the cooked potatoes and mushrooms in an ovenproof dish, then pour the creamy sauce over the top.

For the crumble topping, mix the breadcrumbs with a little melted butter and sprinkle it over the potato and mushroom mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and crispy.

Once the Mushroom & Potato Crumble is cooked, serve it hot and enjoy the creamy texture of the potatoes, the earthy flavor of the mushrooms, and the crunchy topping. This dish is a perfect choice for a cozy dinner at home or a gathering with friends and family.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 1200g, with 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 300g. An estimated calorie count per serving is 350 calories.

One unique tip for this dish is to add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese to the crumble topping before baking. This will add a delicious umami flavor to the dish and take it to the next level.

I hope you give this Mushroom & Potato Crumble recipe a try and make it your own by experimenting with different types of mushrooms or adding in extra herbs and spices. Enjoy!
