Today’s Special: Spiced Apple Cider Punch

As the holiday season approaches, I find myself craving warm, comforting beverages to enjoy with friends and family. Today, I’m excited to share my recipe for a delicious Spiced Apple Cider Punch that is sure to be a hit at any gathering. This unique twist on traditional apple cider combines aromatic spices with a hint of citrus for a flavorful and festive drink that will warm you from the inside out.

Ingredients

  • 1 liter apple cider
  • 250 ml orange juice
  • 50 ml lemon juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tbsp whole cloves
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 3 slices fresh ginger
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 100 ml rum (optional)

Kitchen Tools

  • saucepan
  • wooden spoon
  • fine mesh strainer
  • ladle

In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, star anise, ginger, and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

Once the cider is simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it steep for 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. If you’re opting to add rum, this is the time to stir it in for a little extra kick.

After steeping, remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the punch through a fine mesh strainer to remove the spices and ginger. Discard the solids, then return the liquid to the saucepan to keep warm until ready to serve.

When you’re ready to enjoy your Spiced Apple Cider Punch, ladle it into mugs or glasses and garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange for a festive touch. Sip and savor the warm, comforting flavors of the season!

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 1300 grams, with approximately 6 servings. Each serving weighs around 216 grams, with an estimated calorie count of 150 per serving.

Clever Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, try zesting an orange or a lemon into the punch mixture before simmering. This will add a bright citrusy note that complements the warm spices beautifully.

I hope you give this Spiced Apple Cider Punch a try at your next gathering. Feel free to experiment with the ingredients and make it your own. Cheers to a cozy and delicious holiday season!
