Holiday Recipe: Spiced Pear and Prosciutto Tart

Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that perfectly captures the essence of the holiday season. This Spiced Pear and Prosciutto Tart is a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, making it a perfect appetizer or even a light main course for a festive gathering or intimate holiday dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (250g)
  • 2 ripe pears, thinly sliced (300g)
  • 100g of prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 50g of Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt

Kitchen Tools:

  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper

To start, preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Transfer the pastry to the prepared baking sheet.

Arrange the sliced pears on top of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. Layer the prosciutto slices over the pears, then sprinkle the crumbled Gorgonzola cheese on top. Drizzle the honey over the tart, then sprinkle with cinnamon and a pinch of salt.

Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and pears are tender. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.

This Spiced Pear and Prosciutto Tart weighs approximately 700g after cooking, serves 4-6 people, with each serving weighing around 150g. Each serving is estimated to be around 300 calories.

Clever Tip:

For an extra touch of elegance, you can garnish the tart with a sprinkle of chopped walnuts or fresh thyme before serving. It adds a lovely texture and flavor contrast to the dish.
