Exploring New Flavors: Spicy Tofu and Pineapple Stir-Fry

Greetings, fellow foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that I recently stumbled upon while experimenting in the kitchen. This dish combines the bold flavors of spicy tofu with the sweetness of pineapple, creating a unique and delicious stir-fry that will surely tantalize your taste buds.

Ingredients:

  • firm tofu (400g)
  • pineapple chunks (200g)
  • red bell pepper (150g)
  • onion (100g)
  • garlic cloves (3)
  • fresh ginger (20g)
  • soy sauce (30ml)
  • sriracha sauce (15ml)
  • sesame oil (15ml)
  • cornstarch (15g)
  • rice vinegar (15ml)
  • brown sugar (15g)

Kitchen Tools:

  • wok
  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • garlic press
  • grater
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

To start, press the tofu to remove excess water and dice it into cubes. In a wok over medium heat, add sesame oil and sauté the tofu until golden brown. Remove the tofu and set aside. In the same wok, stir-fry garlic, ginger, sliced onion, and red bell pepper until fragrant.

Next, add in the pineapple chunks and return the tofu to the wok. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Pour this sauce over the tofu and vegetables, tossing to coat evenly. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the wok to thicken the sauce.

Continue cooking until the sauce has thickened and the vegetables are tender. The dish should be aromatic, with the tofu absorbing all the flavors of the sauce. Serve the spicy tofu and pineapple stir-fry hot over a bed of steamed rice or noodles.

This unique dish weighs approximately 900g once cooked and serves 4 people. Each serving is about 225g, with an approximate calorie count of 300 per serving.

Clever Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, try marinating the tofu in the sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This will allow the tofu to absorb even more of the spicy and sweet flavors, taking the dish to the next level.

I hope you give this spicy tofu and pineapple stir-fry a try in your own kitchen. Feel free to tweak the ingredients or spice levels to suit your taste preferences. Happy cooking!
