Today’s Special: Smoky Bacon and Caramelized Onion Quiche

Hey there, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share with you a delicious recipe for a Smoky Bacon and Caramelized Onion Quiche. This savory dish is perfect for brunches with friends or a cozy family dinner. The smoky bacon adds a rich flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet caramelized onions. Let’s dive into the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • shortcrust pastry (300g)
  • bacon strips (150g)
  • onions (3, thinly sliced)
  • eggs (4)
  • heavy cream (200ml)
  • cheddar cheese (100g, shredded)
  • salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (to taste)

Kitchen Tools:

  • rolling pin
  • quiche pan
  • frying pan
  • mixing bowl

To start, preheat your oven to 180°C. Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a floured surface and carefully line your quiche pan with it. Prick the base with a fork and blind bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden.

In a frying pan, cook the bacon until crispy, then chop it into small pieces. In the same pan, cook the thinly sliced onions until caramelized and sweet. Spread the bacon and onions over the pre-baked pastry crust.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Pour this mixture over the bacon and onions in the quiche pan.

Bake the quiche in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.

Once baked, allow the quiche to cool slightly before slicing and serving. The smoky bacon and sweet caramelized onions create a perfect harmony of flavors in every bite.

This Smoky Bacon and Caramelized Onion Quiche weighs approximately 1200g once cooked, serving 8 people with around 150g per serving. Each serving is estimated to be around 400 calories.

A tip to enhance the flavor of this quiche is to sprinkle some smoked paprika on top before baking. It adds an extra dimension of smokiness that will wow your taste buds!

I hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy it as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different fillings or add your own twist to make it uniquely yours. Happy cooking!
