Ice Cream Perfection: Brown Sugar Cinnamon Swirl

Today, I’m excited to share a delightful ice cream recipe that’s perfect for cozy winter nights or even a summer treat with a twist. This Brown Sugar Cinnamon Swirl ice cream brings together the comforting flavors of brown sugar and warm cinnamon in a creamy, dreamy dessert that will surely become a favorite in your household.

Ingredients:

  • 500 ml heavy cream
  • 250 ml whole milk
  • 200 g brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • whisk
  • mixing bowls
  • mesh strainer
  • ice cream maker

To start, pour the heavy cream and whole milk into a saucepan over medium heat. Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is heated through.

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks until smooth. Slowly pour a ladleful of the warm cream mixture into the yolks, whisking constantly to temper the eggs. Gradually incorporate the rest of the cream into the yolks.

Pour the combined mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract. Strain the mixture through a mesh strainer to remove any lumps or bits.

Chill the custard mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and intensify. Once chilled, pour the custard into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until thick and creamy.

For the cinnamon swirl, mix together some extra brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Layer the churned ice cream in a container, sprinkling the cinnamon sugar mixture between each layer. Use a knife to gently swirl the mixture for a beautiful marbled effect.

Serving:

Once the ice cream has set in the freezer for a few hours, scoop out a generous serving into a bowl or cone. The Brown Sugar Cinnamon Swirl ice cream weighs approximately 1000 grams in total, serves 8, with an average serving weight of 125 grams. Each serving is estimated to be around 300 calories.

One last tip to make this dish even more special is to sprinkle some additional cinnamon sugar on top just before serving. It adds an extra touch of sweetness and spice that will delight your taste buds.

I hope you give this unique ice cream recipe a try and enjoy the warm, comforting flavors it brings. Feel free to get creative and make it your own by adding chopped nuts, caramel swirls, or even a dash of rum for a grown-up twist. Happy scooping!
