Today’s Baking Adventure: Spicy Chai Tea Muffins

Greetings, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a unique recipe inspired by my love for cozy winter beverages. These Spicy Chai Tea Muffins are a delightful twist on a classic baked treat, infused with aromatic spices and a hint of warmth that will surely brighten your day.

For this recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 10g baking powder
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 200ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 5g cinnamon
  • 2g ground ginger
  • 1g ground cloves

To bring these Spicy Chai Tea Muffins to life, you’ll need the following kitchen tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • saucepan
  • muffin tin
  • oven preheated to 180°C

Start by steeping the chai tea bags in the milk in a saucepan over low heat until the milk is infused with the rich flavors. Remove the tea bags and let the milk cool to room temperature. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.

Melt the butter and whisk in the egg until well combined. Slowly pour in the cooled chai-infused milk while whisking continuously. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

Grease the muffin tin or line it with paper liners. Spoon the batter into each muffin cup, filling them almost to the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once the muffins are baked to perfection, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before enjoying. These Spicy Chai Tea Muffins weigh approximately 30g each, with this recipe yielding about 12 muffins. Each flavorful muffin is estimated to be around 150 calories.

One clever tip to elevate these muffins is to sprinkle a bit of extra cinnamon and sugar on top before baking. This simple step adds a crispy, sweet crust that perfectly complements the warm, spiced flavors inside.

I encourage you to give these Spicy Chai Tea Muffins a try and make them your own by experimenting with different spice combinations or adding mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit. Get creative in the kitchen and savor the delicious results!
