Today’s Recipe: Sweet Potato and Caramelized Onion Brownies

I’m excited to share with you a unique and decadent dessert recipe that combines unexpected flavors for a truly unforgettable treat. These Sweet Potato and Caramelized Onion Brownies are a perfect blend of sweet and savory, with a fudgy texture that will have you coming back for more. Whether you’re looking to surprise your taste buds or impress your friends and family, this dessert is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium sweet potato, cooked and mashed (about 200g)
  • 1/2 cup caramelized onions (about 100g)
  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter (113g)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (200g)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup flour (60g)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (25g)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • saucepan
  • whisk
  • baking pan
  • oven

To start, preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking pan. In a saucepan, melt the butter and dark chocolate together over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mashed sweet potato, caramelized onions, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. Slowly pour in the melted chocolate mixture while whisking continuously.

Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

These Sweet Potato and Caramelized Onion Brownies weigh approximately 800g in total and make 12 servings. Each serving is around 67g, with an estimated calorie count of 250 per serving.

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle some sea salt on top of the brownies before baking for a delicious salty-sweet contrast that elevates the flavors even more.

I hope you enjoy making and savoring these unique brownies as much as I do. Feel free to get creative and make them your own by adding nuts, dried fruit, or even a drizzle of caramel on top. Happy baking!
