As the cherry blossoms bloom and fill the air with their delicate fragrance, I am inspired to create a dish that embodies the essence of spring. Today, I am sharing my recipe for Cherry Blossom Rice Cake, a unique fusion of flavors that will transport you to a serene garden in full bloom.

To begin, gather the following ingredients:

  • 150g glutinous rice flour
  • 200ml coconut milk
  • 100g sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • handful of fresh cherry blossoms

Prepare the kitchen tools you will need:

  • mixing bowl
  • steaming basket
  • pot
  • sieve

In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Mix well until you have a smooth batter. Rinse the cherry blossoms gently under cold water to remove any impurities and pat them dry. Gently fold the cherry blossoms into the batter, making sure not to crush them.

Prepare a steaming basket by lining it with a piece of cheesecloth. Pour the batter into the steaming basket and spread it out evenly. Place the basket over a pot of boiling water, cover, and steam for about 30 minutes, or until the rice cake is set.

Once the rice cake is cooked, remove it from the steamer and let it cool slightly. Unmold the rice cake onto a plate and garnish with a few extra cherry blossoms for a beautiful presentation.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 400g, with 6 servings at around 67g each. Each serving is estimated to have around 180 calories.
