Today’s Culinary Adventure: Apple Cider Pulled Pork

Hey there, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share my recipe for Apple Cider Pulled Pork. This dish is perfect for cozy autumn nights when you want something warm and comforting. The sweet and tangy flavors of the apple cider perfectly complement the tender pulled pork, creating a delicious meal that will leave you wanting more. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients:

  • pork shoulder (1.5 kg)
  • apple cider (500 ml)
  • onion, chopped (1)
  • garlic cloves, minced (3)
  • apple, sliced (1)
  • brown sugar (50 g)
  • smoked paprika (1 tbsp)
  • cayenne pepper (½ tsp)
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • slow cooker
  • skillet
  • tongs
  • wooden spoon

Start by heating a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Sear the pork shoulder in the skillet until browned on all sides, then transfer it to the slow cooker.

In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened. Add the apple slices, brown sugar, and apple cider, stirring to combine. Pour this mixture over the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.

Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork. Once cooked, use tongs to shred the pork in the slow cooker, mixing it with the flavorful apple cider sauce.

Serve the Apple Cider Pulled Pork on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes or piled high on soft burger buns. The combination of sweet apples, tangy cider, and savory pork is sure to be a hit with your taste buds!

Approximate total weight of cooked dish: 1.8 kg
Number of servings: 6
Average weight of one serving: 300 g
Approximate calorie count per serving: 450 calories

One unusual tip for this recipe is to add a splash of apple cider vinegar before serving to enhance the tangy flavor of the dish. It adds a bright acidity that really elevates the overall taste!

I hope you give this Apple Cider Pulled Pork recipe a try and enjoy it as much as I do. Feel free to customize it with your favorite seasonings or sides to make it your own. Happy cooking!
