Creamy Shiitake Miso Pasta: A Fusion Delight

Creamy Shiitake Miso Pasta: A Fusion Delight

May 16, 2025 Written by Isabella

Today, I’m excited to share with you a unique fusion dish that combines elements of Italian and Japanese cuisine. This recipe is inspired by my love for both creamy pasta dishes and umami-rich flavors. It’s a perfect dish for a cozy night in or a special dinner with friends and family.

For this fusion dish, you will need the following ingredients:

– 250g spaghetti
– 200g shiitake mushrooms, sliced
– 1 shallot, finely chopped
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon miso paste
– 250ml heavy cream
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce
– 1 teaspoon truffle oil
– Fresh parsley, for garnish
– Salt and pepper to taste

In addition, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • large pot
  • skillet
  • wooden spoon
  • colander

To begin, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted water. In a separate skillet, sauté the shallot and garlic in olive oil until softened. Add the sliced shiitake mushrooms and cook until they are golden brown and caramelized.

Next, stir in the miso paste, heavy cream, soy sauce, and truffle oil into the skillet with the mushrooms. Let the sauce simmer and thicken for a few minutes. Once the spaghetti is cooked al dente, drain it in a colander and add it to the skillet with the creamy mushroom sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated.

Serve the pasta hot, garnished with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of black pepper. The creamy texture of the sauce combined with the earthy shiitake mushrooms and umami flavors of miso and soy sauce create a truly unique and delicious dish.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 850g, with 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 212g, and has an estimated calorie count of 450 calories per serving.

One clever tip for this recipe is to toast the miso paste in the skillet before adding the cream. This will enhance the depth of flavor and aromas of the dish.

I hope you enjoy trying out this Italian-Japanese fusion pasta dish! Feel free to experiment with different types of mushrooms or add some crushed red pepper for a spicy kick. Make it your own and savor every bite. Enjoy!
