Today’s Healthy Snack Recipe: Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

Hey there, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a delicious and healthy snack recipe that will surely satisfy your cravings. I love making these spicy roasted chickpeas whenever I’m in the mood for a flavorful and crunchy snack. They are perfect for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or to munch on while watching your favorite movie. Let’s dive into the details of this tasty treat!

Ingredients:

  • canned chickpeas (400g)
  • olive oil (15ml)
  • smoked paprika (5g)
  • cayenne pepper (2g)
  • ground cumin (3g)
  • garlic powder (3g)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • baking sheet
  • mixing bowl
  • colander
  • oven

To start, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas in a colander, then pat them dry with a kitchen towel. In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpeas, olive oil, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the chickpeas are well coated with the seasonings.

Spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Roast them in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Make sure to shake the pan halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning.

Once the chickpeas are crispy and aromatic, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. These spicy roasted chickpeas are best enjoyed warm, straight out of the oven. They make a great snack for any time of the day!

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 450g, with about 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 113g, and I estimate that each serving is around 150 calories. One clever tip for making these spicy roasted chickpeas even more flavorful is to sprinkle some freshly squeezed lemon juice over them right before serving. The citrusy kick adds a refreshing twist to the spicy seasoning!

I hope you give these spicy roasted chickpeas a try and enjoy them as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different seasonings and spices to create your own unique version of this healthy snack. Happy snacking!
