Today’s Fusion Dish: Japanese-inspired Spaghetti Carbonara

As the seasons transition from spring to summer, I always find myself craving a comforting yet light dish that combines the flavors of different cuisines. Today, I’m excited to share with you my unique take on a classic Italian favorite with a Japanese twist – Japanese-inspired Spaghetti Carbonara.

Ingredients:

  • 200g spaghetti
  • 100g bacon, diced
  • 100g shimeji mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 eggs
  • 15ml soy sauce
  • 50g parmesan cheese, grated
  • to taste black pepper

Kitchen Tools:

  • pot
  • skillet
  • whisk
  • grater

To start, bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. In a skillet, cook the diced bacon until crispy, then add in the sliced shimeji mushrooms and sauté until tender.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, soy sauce, and grated parmesan cheese until well combined. Once the spaghetti is cooked, drain it and add it to the skillet with the bacon and mushrooms. Pour the egg mixture over the hot spaghetti and quickly toss everything together, making sure the eggs coat the noodles evenly.

Season with black pepper to taste and continue to toss the spaghetti until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the noodles completely. Serve the Japanese-inspired Spaghetti Carbonara hot, garnished with extra parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of black pepper.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 600g, with 2 servings and an average weight of 300g per serving. Each serving is approximately 400 calories.

One tip to make this dish even more flavorful is to top it with a drizzle of truffle oil before serving. The earthy aroma of truffle oil adds a luxurious touch to the dish, elevating its taste to a whole new level.
