Seasonal Cooking: Springtime Herb Frittata

Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that celebrates the fresh flavors of spring with a twist. This herb frittata is not your average egg dish — it’s packed with fragrant herbs and savory ingredients that will elevate your breakfast or brunch game to a whole new level.

Ingredients:

  • butter (15g)
  • spring onions (50g)
  • fresh basil (15g)
  • fresh dill (10g)
  • fresh chives (10g)
  • eggs (6)
  • milk (30ml)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • frying pan
  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board

To start, melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add sliced spring onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Chop fresh basil, dill, and chives finely and add them to the egg mixture. Stir gently to distribute the herbs evenly throughout the mixture. Pour the mixture over the sautéed onions in the frying pan.

Cook the frittata over low heat for about 10-15 minutes or until the edges start to set. You can carefully lift the edges with a spatula to let the uncooked egg flow underneath. Once the frittata is mostly set, place the pan under a preheated broiler for 2-3 minutes to cook the top until it is golden and slightly puffed.

Slide the frittata onto a serving plate and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into wedges. The aroma of fresh herbs will fill your kitchen, enticing you to dive into this flavorful and satisfying dish.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 600g, with 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 150g, and it contains approximately 200 calories per portion.

Clever Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, try sprinkling some crumbled feta cheese on top of the frittata before serving. The tangy cheese will complement the herby goodness of the dish perfectly.

I hope you give this Springtime Herb Frittata a try and enjoy the vibrant flavors of the season. Feel free to customize the herbs and add your favorite ingredients to make it your own masterpiece!
