As the weather starts to warm up, I find myself craving bright and zesty flavors to match the season. That’s why I’m excited to share my latest creation with you all — Spicy Mango Shrimp Tacos! This dish combines the sweetness of ripe mangoes with the heat of spicy shrimp for a flavor combination that is sure to impress your taste buds.

To start, gather the following ingredients:

  • 300g shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 ripe mango (diced)
  • 1/2 red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 jalapeno (seeded and diced)
  • 1 lime (juiced)
  • Handful of cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 small tortillas

Before you begin cooking, make sure you have the following kitchen tools on hand:

  • skillet
  • cutting board
  • knife
  • mixing bowl
  • spatula

Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook the shrimp until they are pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced mango, sliced red onion, diced jalapeno, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Mix well to combine all the flavors.

Next, warm the tortillas in the skillet for about 30 seconds on each side. Assemble your tacos by placing a spoonful of the mango salsa on each tortilla, followed by the spicy shrimp. Top with extra cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice, if desired.

This recipe makes 6 tacos and each serving is approximately 200g. One serving of these Spicy Mango Shrimp Tacos is around 350 calories.

Pro-tip: For an extra kick of heat, add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes to the shrimp before cooking!
