Dessert Recipe: Exotic Mango Basil Panna Cotta

Today, I’m excited to share a delicious and refreshing dessert recipe that is perfect for the summer season — Exotic Mango Basil Panna Cotta. This unique twist on a classic Italian dessert combines the tropical sweetness of mango with the fresh herbal notes of basil, creating a delightful treat that will impress your taste buds.

Ingredients:

  • 300g mango puree
  • 100g sugar
  • 10g gelatin
  • 400ml heavy cream
  • 10-12 fresh basil leaves

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • whisk
  • blender
  • ramekins

To start, combine the mango puree and sugar in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. In a separate bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 1/4 cup of cold water and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.

Next, add the heavy cream to the mango mixture and bring it to a simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until completely dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

In a blender, combine the fresh basil leaves with a small amount of the mango cream mixture. Blend until the basil is finely chopped and incorporated into the mixture. Strain the basil-infused cream back into the saucepan and mix well.

Pour the panna cotta mixture into individual ramekins and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.

Once set, carefully run a knife around the edges of each ramekin and invert onto serving plates. Serve the Exotic Mango Basil Panna Cotta chilled, garnished with fresh basil leaves for an extra pop of flavor.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 800g. This recipe makes 4 servings, with an average weight of 200g per serving. Each serving is estimated to have around 300 calories.

One clever tip for this recipe is to infuse the cream with basil for a more intense flavor. Simply heat the cream with basil leaves, then let it cool and strain before adding it to the mango mixture. This extra step adds a beautiful depth of flavor to the panna cotta.

I hope you enjoy making and indulging in this Exotic Mango Basil Panna Cotta. Feel free to get creative with different fruit and herb combinations to make it your own!
