Today’s Fusion Creation: Sushi Pizza with a Mediterranean Twist

Greetings, foodies! Today, I am excited to share with you a unique fusion recipe that combines the flavors of Japan with the vibrant ingredients of the Mediterranean. This dish was inspired by my recent trip to a sushi-Mediterranean fusion restaurant, where I fell in love with the unexpected combination of flavors and textures. So, I decided to recreate it at home and put my own spin on it. I hope you enjoy this delicious and creative Sushi Pizza with a Mediterranean Twist as much as I do!

To make this flavorful dish, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 300g sushi rice (cooked)
  • 150g Norwegian smoked salmon
  • 100g feta cheese
  • 50g Kalamata olives
  • 1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 3 nori sheets, cut into small pieces
  • 2 tsp wasabi
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar

For this recipe, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • rice cooker
  • mixing bowl
  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • spatula
  • oven
  • baking sheet

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the rice vinegar and sugar. Add the cooked sushi rice to the bowl and mix well to combine. Press the seasoned rice onto a greased baking sheet to form a thin, even layer, resembling a pizza crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until slightly crispy.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix the wasabi with soy sauce to make a spicy dipping sauce. Set aside.

Once the rice crust is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Top the rice crust with smoked salmon, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, cucumber slices, avocado slices, and nori pieces. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.

Return the Sushi Pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, just until the toppings are warmed through. Remove from the oven and drizzle the spicy wasabi soy sauce over the top.

This Sushi Pizza with a Mediterranean Twist weighs approximately 800 grams and serves 4. Each serving is around 200 grams with an estimated calorie count of 350 per serving.

A unique tip for this dish is to sprinkle some crumbled seaweed snacks on top for an extra burst of umami flavor. It adds a crunchy texture and enhances the overall sushi experience.

I encourage you to get creative with this recipe and customize it to your liking. Whether you’re a sushi lover, a Mediterranean food enthusiast, or just someone looking to try something new, this fusion dish is sure to impress your taste buds. Enjoy!
