Today’s Recipe: Rum Raisin Bread Pudding

Hello, fellow food lovers! Today, I’m excited to share with you a recipe that has been a favorite of mine for years: rum raisin bread pudding. This comforting dessert is perfect for chilly evenings or when you’re in the mood for something sweet and decadent. The combination of warm bread soaked in a rich custard with plump rum-soaked raisins is simply irresistible.

To make this rum raisin bread pudding, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 300g stale bread, cubed
  • 500ml milk
  • 250ml cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g sugar
  • 100ml rum
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 100g raisins

In terms of kitchen tools, you will need:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • saucepan
  • baking dish

Start by preheating your oven to 180°C. In a saucepan, heat the milk and cream over low heat until it’s warm but not boiling. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, rum, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined. Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

Place the cubed bread in a baking dish and sprinkle the raisins over the top. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and raisins, making sure to coat everything evenly. Allow the bread to soak up the custard for about 10 minutes before placing the baking dish in the preheated oven.

Bake the rum raisin bread pudding for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. This dessert is best enjoyed warm, straight out of the oven.

Once cooked, the total weight of the rum raisin bread pudding is approximately 1200g. This recipe serves 8 people, with each serving weighing around 150g. As for the calorie count per serving, it’s estimated to be around 300 calories.

One unique tip for this rum raisin bread pudding is to sprinkle some extra cinnamon and sugar on top before baking for a delicious crunchy topping that adds a little extra sweetness and texture.

I hope you give this rum raisin bread pudding a try and make it your own by adding your favorite spices or toppings. Enjoy this comforting dessert with loved ones and savor every bite!
