Today’s Breakfast Creation: Savory Parmesan French Toast

Hey there, foodies! I’m excited to share with you my latest breakfast creation, savory Parmesan French toast. The inspiration for this dish came from a recent trip to a quaint Italian cafe where I had the most delicious Parmesan-crusted toast. I wanted to recreate that savory goodness with a breakfast twist, and thus, this recipe was born.

For this unique and flavorful dish, you’ll need the following ingredients (approximate weights):

  • 4 thick slices of bread (200g)
  • 2 eggs (100g)
  • 1/2 cup of milk (120ml)
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese (50g)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (30g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • Handful of chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives)

To bring this dish to life, you’ll need the following kitchen tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • frying pan
  • spatula

Begin by whisking together the eggs, milk, grated Parmesan, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until well combined. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring that both sides are fully coated.

In a frying pan over medium heat, melt the butter and place the coated bread slices in the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Make sure the Parmesan cheese forms a crispy crust on the outside of the toast.

Once the French toast is cooked to perfection, remove from the pan and sprinkle with freshly chopped herbs. Serve hot and enjoy the savory goodness of Parmesan French toast.

This recipe serves 2 people, with each serving weighing approximately 200g. One serving of savory Parmesan French toast is estimated to be around 300 calories.

A clever tip for this dish is to use stale bread for the French toast. The slightly dry texture of stale bread allows it to soak up the egg mixture without becoming soggy, resulting in a crispy and flavorful toast.

I hope you give this savory Parmesan French toast recipe a try and add your own twist to it. Feel free to experiment with different herbs, spices, or cheeses to make it your own. Happy cooking!
