Introduction

I love experimenting with unique flavors and ingredients in the kitchen, and today I’m excited to share a recipe that combines unexpected elements for a truly one-of-a-kind dish. This creation is perfect for those looking to impress their taste buds with something out of the ordinary.

Ingredients

  • purple sweet potato (200g)
  • black sesame seeds (15g)
  • coconut milk (100ml)
  • vanilla bean (1)
  • maple syrup (30ml)
  • sea salt (a pinch)

  • blender
  • saucepan

Preparation

I start by peeling and chopping the purple sweet potato into small cubes. In a saucepan, I combine the sweet potato cubes with coconut milk and the scraped seeds from the vanilla bean. I let it simmer until the sweet potato is tender.

Once the sweet potato is cooked, I transfer everything to a blender and puree until smooth. I add in the maple syrup and a pinch of sea salt, blending again to incorporate all the flavors.

Next, I toast the black sesame seeds in a dry pan until fragrant and slightly golden. I sprinkle the toasted seeds on top of the sweet potato mixture.

Tips

For an extra crunch, you can also sprinkle some toasted coconut flakes on top before serving. This adds a nice texture contrast to the smooth sweet potato puree.
