Today’s Special: Spicy Chocolate Chip Chili

As the weather starts to cool down and fall approaches, I find myself craving hearty and comforting dishes that warm me up from the inside out. Today, I’m excited to share with you a unique and adventurous recipe that combines the richness of chocolate with the bold flavors of chili – my Spicy Chocolate Chip Chili!

To create this one-of-a-kind dish, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 400g canned diced tomatoes
  • 400g canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 500ml beef broth
  • 50g dark chocolate, chopped
  • to taste

Before starting, make sure you have the following kitchen tools ready:

  • large pot
  • wooden spoon
  • knife
  • chopping board

Begin by heating a large pot over medium heat and adding the ground beef. Cook until browned, then add the diced onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Saute until the vegetables are soft and fragrant.

Next, sprinkle in the chili powder, ground cumin, and cocoa powder. Stir well to combine and let the spices toast for a minute to release their flavors. Pour in the canned tomatoes, kidney beans, and beef broth. Bring the chili to a simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Just before serving, stir in the chopped dark chocolate until melted and well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the Spicy Chocolate Chip Chili hot, garnished with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chocolate chips for added decadence.

This recipe makes about 6 servings, with each serving weighing approximately 400g. One serving of this Spicy Chocolate Chip Chili has an estimated calorie count of 400 calories.

A unique tip for this recipe is to let the chili rest overnight in the refrigerator before reheating and serving. This allows the flavors to intensify and develop even further, making it even more delicious the next day.

I hope you enjoy this unconventional twist on a classic dish! Feel free to customize it with your favorite toppings or additional spices to make it your own. Happy cooking!
