Unleash Flavor with Cheesy Miso Carbonara: A Fusion Twist

Today, I am excited to share a unique and delicious twist on a classic Italian dish. This Cheesy Miso Carbonara combines the rich umami flavor of miso with the creamy goodness of traditional carbonara. It’s the perfect comfort food with a surprising burst of Asian-inspired flavors. Let’s get started!

Ingredients:

  • 200g spaghetti
  • 150g bacon, diced
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp miso paste
  • 100ml heavy cream
  • 50g parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped chives for garnish

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl

Start by cooking the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to the package instructions. In a separate frying pan, cook the bacon until crispy. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, miso paste, and heavy cream until smooth.

Once the spaghetti is cooked, drain it and return it to the pot. Add the cooked bacon and the miso-cream mixture to the pot, tossing everything together until the spaghetti is well coated. The heat from the pasta will cook the eggs slightly, but be careful not to scramble them.

Stir in the grated parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the Cheesy Miso Carbonara in bowls, garnished with chopped chives for a pop of freshness.

Tip:

For an added depth of flavor, try sprinkling some toasted sesame seeds on top before serving. The nuttiness of the sesame seeds will complement the umami richness of the miso beautifully.
