Breakfast Pick-Me-Up: Blackberry Brie French Toast

Today, I’m excited to share a unique breakfast recipe that always brings a smile to my face. This blackberry brie French toast is a delightful combination of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors that are perfect for starting your day on a high note.

Ingredients:

  • fresh blackberries (150g)
  • brie cheese (100g)
  • sourdough bread slices (4 slices)
  • eggs (2)
  • milk (100ml)
  • butter (30g)
  • maple syrup (30ml)

Kitchen Tools:

  • frying pan
  • whisk
  • spatula
  • knife
  • cutting board

To start, heat a frying pan over medium heat. While the pan is heating up, whisk together the eggs and milk in a shallow dish. Dip each slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides.

Place the coated bread slices in the hot pan and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove the French toast from the pan and set aside.

Next, thinly slice the brie cheese and layer it on top of the cooked French toast. Top the brie with a handful of fresh blackberries. Return the pan to the heat and add the butter and maple syrup.

Once the butter is melted and bubbly, carefully place the brie and blackberry-topped French toast back in the pan. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the brie to melt slightly and the blackberries to soften.

Transfer the French toast to a plate and drizzle any remaining maple syrup and butter mixture on top. Serve hot and enjoy the gooey goodness of the brie cheese paired with the juicy blackberries.

This blackberry brie French toast recipe yields approximately 4 servings, with each serving weighing around 200g. One serving is estimated to have about 350 calories.

Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, try sprinkling some chopped pistachios or almonds on top of the French toast before serving. The nutty crunch adds a nice contrast to the creamy brie and sweet blackberries.

I hope you give this delightful blackberry brie French toast a try soon! Feel free to get creative with your toppings and make it your own. Enjoy!
