Exploring New Flavor Combinations: Earl Grey Tea Infused Panna Cotta

I am excited to share a unique dessert recipe that combines the delicate flavors of Earl Grey tea with the creamy richness of traditional Italian panna cotta. This elegant dessert is perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or simply as a special treat to indulge in at home.

For this Earl Grey tea infused panna cotta, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 500ml heavy cream
  • 250ml whole milk
  • 100g sugar
  • 10g gelatin sheets
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

To prepare this delectable dessert, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • saucepan
  • whisk
  • fine mesh strainer
  • ramekins

Begin by pouring the heavy cream and milk into a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar, vanilla extract, and Earl Grey tea bags. Gently heat the mixture until it is just about to simmer, then remove the saucepan from the heat and let it steep for 15 minutes to infuse the flavors of the tea.

Meanwhile, soak the gelatin sheets in cold water for about 5 minutes until they become soft. Squeeze out the excess water from the gelatin sheets and add them to the warm cream mixture, stirring until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the tea bags and any bits of gelatin that may not have dissolved. Divide the mixture evenly among the ramekins, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the panna cotta is set.

Once the panna cotta is chilled and set, gently run a knife around the edges of each ramekin to loosen the dessert. Place a plate on top of each ramekin, then invert the panna cotta onto the plate to unmold.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 800 grams, with 6 servings at approximately 133 grams each. Each serving is estimated to contain around 300 calories.

One unusual tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a tiny pinch of finely ground Earl Grey tea leaves on top of the panna cotta before serving to enhance the tea flavor and add a subtle texture to each bite.

I encourage you to give this Earl Grey tea infused panna cotta a try and enjoy the lovely combination of flavors in this unique dessert. Feel free to experiment with different teas or flavorings to make it your own!
