Refreshing Lemon Basil Sorbet

Today, I’m excited to share with you a unique and refreshing dessert that is perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day. This lemon basil sorbet combines the tartness of lemons with the fresh, herbal notes of basil to create a delightful treat that is both zesty and invigorating.

Ingredients:

  • 200ml of fresh lemon juice
  • 150g of granulated sugar
  • 300ml of water
  • ½ cup of fresh basil leaves

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • blender
  • fine mesh sieve
  • ice cream maker

To begin, combine the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool. In a blender, combine the fresh lemon juice and basil leaves. Blend until the basil is finely chopped and incorporated into the lemon juice.

Next, strain the basil and lemon mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp or large pieces of basil. Combine the strained mixture with the cooled sugar syrup and mix well. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a sorbet consistency.

Once the sorbet is ready, transfer it to a container and freeze for at least 2 hours to allow it to firm up. Serve the lemon basil sorbet in chilled bowls or cones for a refreshing and tangy dessert that will surely impress your guests.
