Today’s Culinary Adventure: Spicy Dark Chocolate Chili

Hello, lovely readers! Today I’m excited to share a unique and delicious recipe with you that combines two of my favorite things: dark chocolate and chili. This dish is perfect for a cozy fall evening or a chilly winter night when you’re craving something hearty and comforting with a little kick.

For this spicy dark chocolate chili, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (400g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 500ml beef broth
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

To bring this dish to life, you’ll also need the following kitchen tools:

  • large pot
  • wooden spoon
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring spoons

Start by heating a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Once the beef is cooked through, add the diced onion, red bell pepper, jalapeno, and garlic. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Next, add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, beef broth, dark chocolate, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Once the chili is thick and flavorful, taste and adjust the seasonings if needed. If you prefer a spicier chili, add more chili powder or a dash of hot sauce. If you like it a little sweeter, add a bit more dark chocolate.

This Spicy Dark Chocolate Chili serves 6 and weighs approximately 2200g in total. Each serving is around 365g, and I estimate that it contains about 400 calories per serving.

One unusual tip for this recipe is to let the chili rest overnight before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and intensify, making it even more delicious the next day.

I hope you give this Spicy Dark Chocolate Chili a try and enjoy it as much as I do! Feel free to customize it with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or avocado. Bon appétit!
