Refreshing Peach and Basil Sorbet

Today, I’m excited to share a perfect dessert for those hot summer days when you need something light, fruity, and refreshing. This peach and basil sorbet is a unique twist on a classic sorbet, combining the sweetness of ripe peaches with the fresh, slightly peppery flavor of basil.

For this recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • ripe peaches (peeled and pitted) – 500g
  • fresh basil leaves – 20g
  • granulated sugar – 150g
  • lemon juice – 30ml
  • water – 120ml

You will also need the following kitchen tools:

  • blender
  • fine mesh strainer
  • saucepan
  • ice cream maker

To prepare this refreshing sorbet, start by combining the peeled and pitted peaches, fresh basil leaves, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and water in a blender. Blend until smooth and completely combined. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove any pulp or solids, leaving you with a smooth liquid.

Next, transfer the strained mixture to a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer the mixture to your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a sorbet-like consistency.

Transfer the sorbet to a container and freeze for at least 2-3 hours before serving. When ready to serve, scoop the peach and basil sorbet into bowls or cones and enjoy this light and refreshing dessert.

This peach and basil sorbet weighs approximately 800g once prepared and serves about 6 people. Each serving is around 133g, and with its natural ingredients, this sorbet is a guilt-free treat, with an estimated calorie count per serving of about 120 calories.

An unusual tip to elevate this sorbet is to sprinkle finely chopped fresh basil leaves on top just before serving. This adds an extra burst of flavor and a beautiful presentation touch that will impress your guests.

I hope you give this peach and basil sorbet a try and make it your own by experimenting with different herbs or fruits. Enjoy the process of creating something delicious and refreshing to beat the summer heat!
