From Taco Night to Teriyaki Twist: My Tangy Tofu Taco

Today’s Unique Dish: Tangy Teriyaki Tofu Tacos

Growing up, my family always enjoyed taco nights, and today I’m putting a creative spin on this classic dish by incorporating Asian flavors. These Tangy Teriyaki Tofu Tacos are a fusion of sweet and savory that will surely delight your taste buds.

Ingredients:

  • 200g firm tofu, diced
  • 50ml teriyaki sauce
  • 30ml rice vinegar
  • 10g fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 corn tortillas
  • 50g pickled red onions
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 10g fresh cilantro, chopped

Kitchen Tools:

  • skillet
  • spatula

To start, marinate the diced tofu in a mixture of teriyaki sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to soak in. While the tofu is marinating, heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.

Once the skillet is hot, add the marinated tofu, making sure to cook it on all sides until it becomes crispy and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set it aside.

In the same skillet, warm the corn tortillas until they are soft and pliable. Assemble the tacos by filling each tortilla with the crispy teriyaki tofu, pickled red onions, sliced avocado, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.

Finally, serve the Tangy Teriyaki Tofu Tacos warm and enjoy the delicious fusion of flavors in every bite.
