Today’s Unique Creation: Lavender-infused Pear Galette

Hey there, foodies! Today, I am excited to share with you a delightful recipe that combines the delicate floral notes of lavender with the sweetness of ripe pears. This lavender-infused pear galette is perfect for a cozy afternoon tea or as a unique dessert option for your next gathering.

Preparation

To make this lavender-infused pear galette, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • 50g sugar
  • 100g cold butter, diced
  • 3-4 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds
  • 3 ripe pears, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey

And don’t forget to grab these essential kitchen tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet
  • pastry brush

Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and cold butter. Use your fingers to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, gently heat the lavender buds with the honey over low heat for a few minutes to infuse the flavors. Strain the mixture and discard the lavender buds.

Assembly and Baking

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.

Arrange the sliced pears in a concentric circle on the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Drizzle the lavender-infused honey over the pears. Fold the edges of the dough over the pears, pleating as you go.

Bake the galette in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the pears are tender.

Serving

Once baked, allow the galette to cool slightly before serving. This lavender-infused pear galette pairs beautifully with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Cut into wedges and enjoy!
