A Flavorful Fusion: Mediterranean-Asian Inspired Chicken and Couscous Recipe

August 5, 2025 Written by Artem

Today, I am excited to share a unique recipe that combines my love for Mediterranean flavors with a twist of Asian influence. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special gathering with friends. The fusion of ingredients creates a symphony of flavors that will leave your taste buds craving more.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
– 300g boneless chicken thighs, diced
– 200g couscous
– 1 can (400g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
– 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
– 1 small red onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1 tsp ground cumin
– 1/2 tsp turmeric
– 1/4 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 1/4 cup sesame oil
– Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Kitchen tools you will need:

  • knife
  • cutting board
  • skillet
  • wooden spoon

Start by heating some oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced chicken thighs and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté the red onion, garlic, and red bell pepper until softened. Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet, along with the chickpeas, ground cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes to let the flavors meld together.

While the chicken mixture is simmering, prepare the couscous according to the package instructions. Once the couscous is cooked, fluff it with a fork and divide it among serving plates. Top the couscous with the chicken and vegetable mixture.

Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves for a pop of color and freshness. Serve hot and enjoy the unique fusion of flavors in this Mediterranean-Asian inspired dish.

Total weight of the cooked dish: 1000g
Number of servings: 4
Average weight of one serving: 250g
Approximate calorie count per serving: 400 calories

One tip to make this dish even more flavorful is to toast the spices before adding them to the chicken mixture. This will enhance their aroma and add depth to the overall dish.

I hope you give this unique recipe a try and make it your own with different vegetables or protein options. Enjoy the culinary adventure!
