Unique Dessert Recipe: Caramelized Pineapple Crème Brûlée

Today, I am excited to share with you a special dessert recipe that combines the tropical sweetness of caramelized pineapple with the creamy richness of crème brûlée. This unique twist on a classic French dessert is perfect for a summer gathering or a special occasion where you want to surprise your guests.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a ripe pineapple, peeled and cored
  • 500ml of heavy cream
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 150g of sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 50g of brown sugar

Kitchen Tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • saucepan
  • whisk
  • baking torch

To start, preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Cut the pineapple into small chunks and place them in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook the pineapple until it caramelizes and becomes golden brown, then set it aside to cool.

In another saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Slowly pour the hot cream into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.

Divide the caramelized pineapple chunks among ramekins and pour the cream mixture over them. Place the ramekins in a deep baking dish and fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.

Once the crème brûlée is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Sprinkle a thin, even layer of brown sugar over the top of each ramekin. Using a baking torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy, golden crust.

Serve the caramelized pineapple crème brûlée immediately, or refrigerate it for a few hours to let the flavors meld together. Enjoy the contrast of the creamy custard with the sweet and tangy caramelized pineapple for a truly decadent dessert experience.

Tip: For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle some finely chopped mint leaves over the caramelized pineapple before pouring the cream mixture on top. The mint adds a refreshing touch that complements the sweetness of the dessert perfectly.

I hope you give this caramelized pineapple crème brûlée recipe a try and make it your own by experimenting with different fruits or flavors. Enjoy!
