Decadent Chocolate Orange Truffles

Today, I’m excited to share with you my recipe for decadent chocolate orange truffles. These luxurious treats are perfect for when you want a little indulgence or need to satisfy your sweet tooth. The combination of rich dark chocolate and zesty orange creates a flavor explosion that is simply irresistible. Let’s get started!

Ingredients:

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 100ml heavy cream
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 30g unsalted butter
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 50g powdered sugar

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • microplane
  • truffle molds

Start by heating the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate to the hot cream. Let it sit for a minute to allow the chocolate to melt, then stir until smooth and well combined.

Next, add the orange zest and unsalted butter to the chocolate mixture, stirring until the butter has melted and everything is fully incorporated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is firm.

Once the chocolate mixture has chilled and is firm to the touch, remove it from the refrigerator. Using a spoon or a melon baller, scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls. Place the truffles on a tray lined with parchment paper and return them to the refrigerator to set for another 30 minutes.

In a shallow dish, mix together the cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Roll each truffle in the cocoa powder mixture until fully coated. Repeat with the remaining truffles.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 400g. This recipe makes about 20 truffles, with each truffle weighing around 20g. Each serving is estimated to be around 2 truffles, with each serving containing approximately 150 calories.

One unique tip for these truffles is to sprinkle a little sea salt on top of each truffle before coating them in the cocoa powder mixture. The hint of salt enhances the flavors of the chocolate and orange, adding an extra depth of richness to the truffles.

I hope you give these decadent chocolate orange truffles a try and enjoy them as much as I do. Feel free to get creative with the recipe and make it your own by adding different spices or extracts to customize the flavors. Happy indulging!
