Dessert Recipe: Chocolate Pomegranate Galette

Today, I’m excited to share a unique and delicious dessert recipe that combines the rich flavors of chocolate with the bright pop of pomegranate. This Chocolate Pomegranate Galette is perfect for a special occasion or just to treat yourself to something indulgent.

Ingredients:

  • 175g all-purpose flour
  • 30g cocoa powder
  • 50g sugar
  • 150g cold butter, cubed
  • 60ml ice water
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • for dusting

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter
  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet

To start, mix the flour, cocoa powder, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly add the ice water a little at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Spread the melted chocolate over the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Sprinkle the pomegranate seeds over the chocolate.

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, creating a rustic look. Brush the edges with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake the galette for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Once the galette is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. This Chocolate Pomegranate Galette is best enjoyed warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 550g, with 6 servings and an average serving weight of 92g. Each serving is approximately 250 calories.

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a little sea salt over the galette just before serving. The salt enhances the flavors of the chocolate and pomegranate, adding a savory contrast to the sweet dessert.

I hope you enjoy making and indulging in this Chocolate Pomegranate Galette. Feel free to get creative with the fillings and make it your own. Happy baking!
