Today’s Unique Dessert Creation: Spiced Apple Galette

As the leaves begin to change color and the air becomes crisp, I find myself craving warm and comforting desserts. Today, I am excited to share with you my recipe for a Spiced Apple Galette. This rustic yet elegant dessert is perfect for autumn gatherings or simply cozy nights in.

Ingredients:

  • 100g butter, cold and cubed
  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 50g sugar
  • 3 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Pinch of salt

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter
  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet

To start, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the cold butter, all-purpose flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Next, add a few tablespoons of ice-cold water to the mixture, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough. Shape it into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, in another bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon zest, and a sprinkle of sugar. Set aside.

Once the dough has chilled, roll it out on a floured surface into a rough circle. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Arrange the spiced apple slices in the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.

Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, creating a rustic, free-form galette. Brush the edges of the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with a bit of sugar for a golden crust.

Bake the Spiced Apple Galette in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

The approximate total weight of the cooked Spiced Apple Galette is 800g, with 6 servings. Each serving weighs approximately 133g. The estimated calorie count per serving is 250 calories.

Clever Tip:

For an extra special touch, try drizzling the baked galette with a warm caramel sauce before serving. The combination of sweet caramel and spiced apples is truly irresistible!

I hope you enjoy making and savoring this Spiced Apple Galette as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different fruits, spices, or toppings to make this dessert your own.
