Comforting Chicken and Dumplings

Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that always brings me back to cozy family dinners on chilly nights. Chicken and dumplings are the ultimate comfort food, perfect for any occasion when you need a hearty and delicious meal to warm both body and soul.

Ingredients:

  • 450g chicken breast
  • 150g carrots
  • 100g celery
  • 100g onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 liter chicken broth
  • 250ml heavy cream
  • 50g flour
  • 50g butter
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Kitchen Tools:

  • knife
  • cutting board
  • large pot
  • wooden spoon
  • mixing bowl
  • rolling pin

Start by melting the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery, cooking until the vegetables are softened. Season the chicken with salt and pepper, then add it to the pot, stirring until browned.

Next, sprinkle the flour over the chicken and vegetable mixture, stirring to coat everything evenly. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for about 20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually stir in enough water to form a soft dough. Roll the dough out on a floured surface and cut it into small squares or rounds.

Drop the dumplings into the simmering chicken mixture, cover the pot, and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 1750g, with about 6 servings. Each serving weighs around 290g, with an estimated calorie count of 400 per serving.

One unique tip for this recipe is to add a splash of white wine to the sauce for a slightly tangy flavor that complements the creamy richness of the dish.

I hope you give this comforting chicken and dumplings recipe a try and savor every spoonful. Feel free to experiment with different vegetables or herbs to make it your own!
