Today’s Special: Caramelized Onion and Fig Flatbread

As the fall season approaches, I find myself craving warm, comforting dishes that are perfect for cozy nights in. That’s why I’m excited to share with you my unique recipe for Caramelized Onion and Fig Flatbread. This dish combines sweet and savory flavors in a way that will surprise and delight your taste buds.

To make this delicious flatbread, you will need the following ingredients (weights are approximate):

  • store-bought pizza dough (400g)
  • red onion (1, thinly sliced)
  • dried figs (100g, chopped)
  • goat cheese (150g, crumbled)
  • balsamic glaze (2 tbsp)
  • olive oil (2 tbsp)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

For this recipe, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • saute pan
  • oven

Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out the store-bought pizza dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In a saute pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the thinly sliced red onion. Cook the onion until it is caramelized and soft, about 10-15 minutes.

Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pizza dough, then sprinkle the chopped dried figs and crumbled goat cheese on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the flatbread.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Once out of the oven, let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
