Introducing my latest creation: Pumpkin Spice Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I’m excited to share this recipe today because it perfectly captures the cozy essence of fall with a unique twist. These Pumpkin Spice Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls combine the warmth of cinnamon with the tangy depth of sourdough, creating a decadent treat that’s perfect for chilly mornings or indulgent desserts. Let’s dive into the process of making these delicious rolls.

Ingredients:

  • 100g active sourdough starter
  • 180ml milk
  • 150g pumpkin puree
  • 1 egg
  • 50g butter, melted
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 400g flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 50g butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

To start, combine the active sourdough starter, milk, pumpkin puree, egg, melted butter, sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and baking soda until a sticky dough forms. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise at room temperature for 8-12 hours.

Once the dough has doubled in size, transfer it to a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough and sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough into a tight log and slice it into 12 equal pieces.

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 1-2 hours. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serving:

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 1200g, with 12 servings. Each roll weighs around 100g, and one serving is estimated to be around 300 calories.

One unique tip for these Pumpkin Spice Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls is to add a drizzle of cream cheese glaze on top for an extra indulgent touch. Simply mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and a splash of milk until smooth, then drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.
