Today’s Recipe: Caramelized Onion and Fig Flatbread

Today, I’m excited to share with you a unique and delicious flatbread recipe that combines the sweetness of caramelized onions with the earthy flavor of figs. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special gathering with friends and family. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients:

  • pizza dough (store-bought) – 300g
  • yellow onions – 2, thinly sliced
  • figs – 4, sliced
  • goat cheese – 100g
  • balsamic glaze – 2 tbsp
  • olive oil – 2 tbsp
  • salt – 1/2 tsp
  • black pepper – 1/2 tsp

Kitchen Tools:

  • rolling pin
  • skillet
  • baking sheet

To start, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface using a rolling pin until it reaches the desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pizza dough. Top with sliced figs and crumbled goat cheese. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the toppings.

Bake the flatbread in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once cooked, remove the flatbread from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy the unique combination of flavors!

Unique Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, try adding a handful of arugula tossed in lemon juice on top of the flatbread just before serving. The peppery arugula adds a fresh contrast to the sweet and savory toppings.
