Today’s Recipe: Rustic Apple Galette

Hello, friends! Today, I am excited to share a recipe for a delicious Rustic Apple Galette. This dessert is perfect for cozy fall evenings or special occasions when you want to impress your guests with minimal effort. The combination of sweet apples, warm spices, and buttery crust is a true delight for the senses. Let’s get started!

Ingredients:

  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 100g cold butter, cubed
  • 4-6 tbsp ice water
  • 3 apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter
  • rolling pin
  • parchment paper
  • baking sheet

To start, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter to cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly drizzle in the ice water, mixing until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

While the dough chills, prepare the filling by tossing the sliced apples with cinnamon, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a rough circle. Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Arrange the apple slices in the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, creating a rustic design.

Brush the edges of the galette with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Let the galette cool slightly before serving. Enjoy a slice on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.

The approximate total weight of the cooked Rustic Apple Galette is 700g, making about 6 servings. Each serving clocks in at around 235 calories.

Clever Tip:

For an extra special touch, try sprinkling some crushed walnuts or a drizzle of caramel sauce over the galette before serving. The added crunch and sweetness will take this dessert to the next level!

I hope you give this Rustic Apple Galette a try and make it your own with your favorite seasonal fruits or nutty additions. Happy baking!
