As the fall season rolls in, I find myself craving warm, comforting dishes that are bursting with flavor. Today, I’m excited to share a unique recipe for saffron honey glazed carrots that perfectly captures the essence of autumn. The combination of sweet honey and fragrant saffron takes these simple carrots to a whole new level of deliciousness.

Ingredients:

  • 500g carrots, peeled and sliced into rounds
  • a pinch of saffron threads
  • 50g honey
  • 30g butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Kitchen Tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • saute pan
  • wooden spoon

To start, melt the butter in a saute pan over medium heat. Add the sliced carrots and sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. In a small bowl, steep the saffron threads in a tablespoon of hot water for a few minutes to extract the flavor.

Once the carrots are slightly tender, add the saffron water, honey, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir well to coat the carrots evenly in the glaze. Let the carrots simmer for another 5-7 minutes until they are cooked through and the glaze has thickened slightly.

Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish. The vibrant orange color of the carrots coated in the golden saffron honey glaze is truly a sight to behold. The aroma of the saffron combined with the sweetness of the honey is simply irresistible.

This dish weighs approximately 650g once cooked and serves 4 people. Each serving is about 162.5g with an approximate calorie count of 150 per serving.
