Savory Beef and Caramelized Onions Recipe

Today, I want to share a unique and flavorful dish that combines the savory goodness of beef with the sweetness of caramelized onions. This recipe is perfect for a cozy night in or a special dinner with loved ones.

For this dish, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 500g beef, cubed
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste
  • to taste

Before you begin, make sure you have the following kitchen tools on hand:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • large skillet
  • wooden spoon
  • measuring cups

Start by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook them slowly, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized. This will take about 20-30 minutes. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the onions and continue to cook until the sugar has melted and the onions are sticky and sweet.

While the onions are caramelizing, season the beef cubes with salt and pepper. In another skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.

Once the beef is browned, deglaze the pan with the red wine vinegar, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Add the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for another 10-15 minutes until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.

Finally, add the caramelized onions to the beef and stir to combine. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve the beef and onions hot over mashed potatoes or with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 1200g, with 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 300g and has an estimated calorie count of 450.

One clever tip for this dish is to add a splash of balsamic vinegar to the onions while they are caramelizing for an extra depth of flavor. This little trick will take your dish to the next level!

I hope you give this beef and caramelized onions recipe a try and enjoy it as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different seasonings or add your own twist to make it unique to your taste. Happy cooking!
