Today’s Fusion Creation: Strawberry Basil Sushi Bowl

I’m excited to share a brand new recipe with you all today – a unique fusion dish that combines the flavors of traditional Japanese sushi with a fresh twist of summer strawberries and basil. This dish is perfect for a light and refreshing meal during the warmer months.

Ingredients:

  • 200g sushi rice
  • 150g fresh strawberries
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • Handful of fresh basil leaves
  • 2 nori sheets
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Kitchen Tools:

  • rice paddle
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • mixing bowl

To start, cook the sushi rice according to the instructions on the package or using a rice cooker for best results. While the rice is cooking, thinly slice the strawberries, avocado, and cucumber. Tear the nori sheets into small pieces and chiffonade the basil leaves.

Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and gently fold in the rice vinegar to season. Allow the rice to cool slightly before assembling your sushi bowl.

To assemble the bowl, place a generous portion of sushi rice at the bottom of a bowl. Arrange the sliced strawberries, avocado, cucumber, nori pieces, and basil leaves on top of the rice. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.

Finish off the dish with an extra sprinkle of sesame seeds and a few fresh basil leaves for garnish. Serve the strawberry basil sushi bowl immediately and enjoy the unique combination of flavors and textures.
