Amped-Up Apple Pie for a Cozy Night In

As the leaves start to change and the air turns crisp, I find myself craving comforting, warm desserts to enjoy on chilly evenings. Today, I’m excited to share with you my unique spin on a classic dish – Amped-Up Apple Pie. This recipe combines the traditional flavors of apple pie with unexpected ingredients to create a truly unforgettable dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large granny smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 50g of pearl sugar
  • 75g of chopped pecans
  • 100ml of maple syrup
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 pre-made pie crust

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • pie dish
  • rolling pin
  • oven

I start by preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lining a pie dish with the pre-made pie crust. In a mixing bowl, I combine the sliced granny smith apples, pearl sugar, chopped pecans, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I toss everything together until the apples are coated in the sweet and spicy mixture.

Next, I carefully pour the apple filling into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly. I then take another pre-made pie crust and use a rolling pin to create a lattice pattern on top of the pie. This step not only adds a beautiful touch to the dessert but also allows the delicious aromas of the filling to escape as it bakes.

I pop the pie into the oven and let it bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. The scent of cinnamon and maple fills my kitchen, making me even more excited to dig into this creative twist on a classic favorite.

Once the pie is done baking, I let it cool slightly before slicing it into generous portions. The combination of tart apples, crunchy pecans, and sweet maple syrup is a winning flavor profile that will keep you coming back for more.

Approximate total weight of cooked dish: 1000g
Number of servings: 8
Average weight of one serving: 125g
Approximate calorie count per serving: 320 calories

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a little extra pearl sugar on top of the lattice crust before baking. This will create a sweet and crunchy topping that adds an extra layer of texture to the pie.

I hope you give this Amped-Up Apple Pie a try and put your own twist on it. Feel free to experiment with different types of nuts, spices, or even add a scoop of ice cream on top for an extra indulgent treat. Enjoy!
