Today’s Art History Dish: Abstract Avocado Carpaccio

As an art history enthusiast, I often find inspiration in the vibrant colors and textures of different artistic movements. Today, I’m sharing a recipe that pays homage to the abstract art movement with a dish I like to call Abstract Avocado Carpaccio. This dish combines the smoothness of ripe avocados with a variety of unexpected flavors and textures to create a unique and visually stunning appetizer.

For this avant-garde dish, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados (300g each)
  • 2 blood oranges
  • 50g pistachios, chopped
  • Handful of microgreens
  • ¼ cup pomegranate seeds
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste

Prepare your kitchen tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • citrus juicer
  • small bowl
  • spoon

To begin, carefully slice the ripe avocados thinly and arrange them on a serving plate in an abstract pattern. Next, supreme the blood oranges by cutting off the peel and pith, then carefully slice between each membrane to release the citrus segments. Place the blood orange segments amongst the avocado slices.

Sprinkle the chopped pistachios and pomegranate seeds over the avocado and blood oranges. Drizzle the honey and balsamic glaze on top for a sweet and tangy finish. Garnish with a handful of microgreens for a pop of color and freshness. Season with sea salt and black pepper to taste.

The combination of creamy avocado, juicy blood oranges, crunchy pistachios, and sweet pomegranate seeds creates a symphony of flavors and textures that is truly a work of art. Each bite is a masterpiece for your taste buds!

Once assembled, the Abstract Avocado Carpaccio weighs approximately 700g. This dish serves 4 people, with each serving weighing around 175g. Each serving is approximately 250 calories.

For a unique twist, try chilling the avocados and blood oranges before slicing them. The cold temperature enhances the flavors and makes for a refreshing appetizer.

I hope you enjoy creating and indulging in this Abstract Avocado Carpaccio as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different toppings and flavors to make it your own masterpiece in the kitchen!
