Summer Delight: Mango Basil Sorbet

As the summer heat intensifies, I find myself yearning for a refreshing treat that not only cools me down but also delights my taste buds. Today, I’m excited to share with you my latest creation: a unique Mango Basil Sorbet. This recipe is a perfect blend of tropical sweetness from ripe mangoes and a subtle hint of freshness from fragrant basil leaves.

To create this mouthwatering dessert, you will need the following ingredients:

  • ripe mangoes (peeled and cubed) – 500g
  • fresh basil leaves – 30g
  • fresh lime juice – 30ml
  • honey – 50g
  • water – 100ml

Gather the following kitchen tools to assist you in making this delightful sorbet:

  • blender
  • fine mesh strainer
  • saucepan
  • ice cream maker

Begin by blending the ripe mangoes, fresh basil leaves, fresh lime juice, honey, and water in a blender until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove any fibrous bits, then transfer it to a saucepan. Heat the mixture gently over low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens slightly.

Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely. Place the mixture in the refrigerator for at least an hour to chill. Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a sorbet-like consistency.

Transfer the sorbet to a container and freeze for an additional 2-3 hours before serving. Scoop the Mango Basil Sorbet into bowls or cones, garnish with a fresh basil leaf, and enjoy the tropical flavors of summer in every bite.

This Mango Basil Sorbet recipe yields approximately 800g of sorbet, enough to serve 4 people. Each serving weighs around 200g and provides a refreshing burst of around 150 calories.
