Today’s Special: Cherry Blossom Risotto

As the cherry blossoms bloom outside my window, I am inspired to create a dish that captures the fleeting beauty of this season. Today, I am excited to share my recipe for Cherry Blossom Risotto – a unique and elegant dish that combines the delicate flavors of floral notes with the creamy richness of risotto.

Ingredients:

  • arborio rice (300g)
  • chicken broth (1L)
  • dried cherry blossoms (10g)
  • butter (50g)
  • onion (1, finely chopped)
  • white wine (150ml)
  • parmesan cheese (50g, grated)

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • wooden spoon
  • grater
  • fine mesh strainer

To begin, heat the chicken broth in a saucepan until it simmers. Place the dried cherry blossoms in a fine mesh strainer and submerge them in the hot broth for 5 minutes to infuse the liquid with their floral essence. Remove the cherry blossoms and discard them, keeping the infused broth warm on a low heat.

In another saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and add the chopped onion. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, then add the arborio rice. Stir the rice for a few minutes until it is well-coated with the butter and begins to toast slightly.

Pour in the white wine and cook until it has been absorbed by the rice. Begin adding the infused chicken broth a ladleful at a time, stirring constantly and allowing each addition to be absorbed before adding more. Continue this process until the rice is creamy and cooked to al dente, about 18-20 minutes.

Remove the risotto from heat and stir in the grated parmesan cheese until it melts and blends into the mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the Cherry Blossom Risotto hot, garnished with some additional parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh cherry blossoms for a touch of elegance.

Total weight of cooked dish: 900g
Number of servings: 4
Average weight of one serving: 225g
Approximate calorie count per serving: 350 calories

Clever Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle some lemon zest over the finished risotto just before serving. The citrusy notes will complement the delicate cherry blossom essence beautifully.

I hope you enjoy creating this Cherry Blossom Risotto as much as I did. Feel free to experiment with different ingredients and make this dish your own. Bon appétit!
