Today’s Special: Chocolate Chili Con Carne

As the weather starts to cool down and the holiday season approaches, I can’t help but crave warm, comforting dishes that pack a punch of flavor. Today, I’m excited to share with you my unique twist on a classic chili con carne recipe – Chocolate Chili Con Carne. The hint of chocolate adds a richness and depth to the dish that will have your taste buds dancing with joy.

Ingredients:

  • ground beef (500g)
  • onion (1, diced)
  • bell pepper (1, chopped)
  • canned kidney beans (400g, drained)
  • canned diced tomatoes (400g)
  • beef broth (500ml)
  • dark chocolate (50g, chopped)
  • chili powder (2 tbsp)
  • cumin (1 tbsp)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • large pot
  • wooden spoon
  • chopping board
  • knife

Start by heating a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onions and chopped bell pepper, sautéing until they are softened and fragrant. Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it up with a wooden spoon and cooking until browned.

Once the beef is cooked through, add the canned kidney beans (drained), canned diced tomatoes, and beef broth to the pot. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Just before serving, stir in the chopped dark chocolate until it melts and integrates into the chili. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.

Serve the Chocolate Chili Con Carne hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or sliced avocado.

The cooked dish weighs approximately 1800g and yields 6 servings, with an average weight per serving of 300g. Each serving is estimated to be around 400 calories.

One unique tip for this recipe is to let the chili rest overnight in the refrigerator before reheating and serving. This allows the flavors to deepen even further, making it even more delicious the next day.

I hope you give this Chocolate Chili Con Carne recipe a try and enjoy the delightful combination of savory and sweet flavors. Feel free to customize it with your favorite ingredients and make it your own!
