Today’s Special: Firecracker Tofu Stir-Fry

Hey there foodies! Today, I am excited to share my latest creation with you all — a Firecracker Tofu Stir-Fry that is sure to delight your taste buds. This dish was inspired by the vibrant colors of summer and the desire to create something explosively flavorful. Let’s dive into the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • firm tofu (300g, diced)
  • bell peppers (150g, sliced)
  • snow peas (100g)
  • pineapple chunks (100g)
  • chili flakes (1 tsp)
  • soy sauce (2 tbsp)
  • rice vinegar (1 tbsp)
  • honey (1 tbsp)
  • garlic cloves (2, minced)
  • fresh ginger (1-inch piece, grated)
  • sesame oil (1 tbsp)
  • cornstarch (1 tbsp)

Kitchen Tools:

  • wok
  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • mixing bowl
  • tongs

To start, I heat up my wok on high heat and add a splash of sesame oil. Once the oil is hot, I toss in the diced tofu and let it cook until crispy and golden brown. I then add in the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring constantly to release their fragrant aromas.

Next, I throw in the sliced bell peppers, snow peas, and pineapple chunks. The colors really pop in the wok, creating a beautiful display of freshness. In a small bowl, I whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and chili flakes to create a sweet and spicy sauce.

I pour the sauce over the tofu and veggies, making sure everything is evenly coated. In a separate bowl, I mix a teaspoon of cornstarch with a splash of water to create a slurry, which I then add to the wok to thicken the sauce to a glossy finish.

Once everything is nicely coated and the sauce has thickened, I remove the wok from the heat. I garnish the Firecracker Tofu Stir-Fry with a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added crunch and nuttiness.

Final Touch:

Weight of cooked dish: 750g
Number of servings: 4
Average weight per serving: 187.5g
Approximate calorie count per serving: 250 calories

One unique tip for this dish is to toss in a handful of roasted cashews at the end for an extra layer of crunch and richness. It adds a delightful texture and flavor that will elevate the dish to a whole new level.

I hope you enjoy recreating this Firecracker Tofu Stir-Fry in your own kitchen. Feel free to play around with the ingredients and make it your own. Happy cooking!
