Trying Something New: Curried Pumpkin Gnocchi

Today, I’m sharing a recipe that is perfect for the cozy fall season. I was inspired to create a dish that combines the warm, comforting flavors of pumpkin with the bold spices of curry. This Curried Pumpkin Gnocchi is a unique twist on a classic Italian dish that is sure to impress your friends and family.

Ingredients:

  • 200g pumpkin puree
  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 50g butter
  • 10 fresh sage leaves
  • 50g parmesan cheese, grated

Kitchen Tools:

  • skillet

To start, combine the pumpkin puree, flour, egg, curry powder, nutmeg, and salt in a mixing bowl. Use a fork to mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it until smooth.

Roll the dough into long ropes about 1 inch thick. Cut the ropes into bite-sized pieces to form the gnocchi. Use a fork to create ridges on the gnocchi pieces for texture.

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the fresh sage leaves and cook until the butter is fragrant and the sage leaves are crispy. Remove the sage leaves and set them aside.

Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the gnocchi until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the gnocchi from the water with a slotted spoon and add them to the skillet with the browned butter.

Toss the gnocchi in the butter sauce until coated. Serve the gnocchi topped with the crispy sage leaves and a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese.

This Curried Pumpkin Gnocchi dish weighs approximately 800g after cooking and serves 4 people. Each serving is around 200g and has an estimated 350 calories.

Clever Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, try toasting the curry powder in a dry skillet for a few minutes before adding it to the dough. This will enhance the spices and give the gnocchi a deeper, richer taste.
